Maurice Chung joined Leicester College after deciding to change the direction he was going in. He joined the BTEC Musical Theatre course in September 2015.
After completing his A levels at Dixie Grammar School, Maurice enrolled in university to study Music Production. However, he realised quickly it was not for him and wanted to change to do more Performing Arts.
Maurice took the step to leave university but quickly realised he didn’t have the required experience or skills to audition to drama/performing arts schools. He opted to study a BTEC in Musical Theatre at the College to help him prepare for auditions as well as gaining a qualification.
Maurice has grown as a person and gained the necessary skills in singing, dancing and acting to audition for Drama Schools.
Programme Lead of Performing Arts, Ed Burton was influential in helping Maurice get into Drama School.
“Eddie saw the potential in me and my music abilities as well as an actor and as a result, I got a full degree offer at my dream school, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.”
Whilst on the course, Maurice had many performing opportunities from Christmas Cabaret Shows to Musicals to Flash Mobs. Maurice ultimate ambition is to perform on the West End and through completing this course and getting into Mountview there could be no stopping him.
When we asked Maurice if he would recommend the College to others, he said:
“The teachers really try their best to help you achieve your full potential.
“Leicester College offers great facilities to really help you realise your dream and ambitions.”
