Meet Jazz Farmer, a remarkable individual who not only embraced the challenges of pursuing a BA Hons Professional Studies degree but also emerged as the winner of the Principal Award 2023 for Outstanding Achievement. Jazz’s unique journey is a testament to resilience, creativity, and the profound influence of education.
Jazz says that “I have a fine art background and moved to Leicester during lockdown. I liked the idea of the course and love my tutors – Kim and Stuart – they’ve been absolutely fantastic.
“I have disability issues and my autism sets me apart but they’ve tried to be accommodating. My second year group, in particular, was amazing”.
Jazz continues: “I’m a hands-on artist and from my perspective, the course was aimed more at graphic design. However, I’ve helped the tutor with some tweaks and despite saying that I would never do it, I built my own website and have moved towards the digital side!
“Despite bringing an adult perspective, I would recommend the course to younger students who don’t necessarily know about the graphic design business.
“Now that I’ve graduated, I’m moving on to take a Masters in Art Negotiated Studies at Staffordshire University, looking at the environmental damage done by art”.
