If you’re not in work, Leicester College can offer you a place on a six-week course in collaboration with  Multisec. Multisec are a security company who currently have local vacancies in Leicester. The programme is full time Monday to Friday, and is designed for candidates who want to work in the security sector. Courses run throughout the year, so it’s never the wrong time to apply. We also offer other free courses related to employability. You need to bring proof of JSA/ESA or Income Support on the first day to ensure that the course is free for you.

Improve your employability

The course offers you the chance to gain real qualifications for your CV, and everyone who gets through the six weeks is guaranteed an interview with Multisec. The qualifications you will receive include:

  • Pearson EDEXEL Certificate in Work Skills
  • HABC Level 2 Certificate in Customer Service
  • An Award in Health and Safety for the Workplace
  • The Award in Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Award in Equality and Diversity
  • Award in Commercial Awareness
  • HABC Level 2 Award in Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry.

In addition, you will gain the skills and knowledge needed to apply for an SIA licence and you will be eligible to apply for work as a door supervisor afterwards. The course is relevant to the security sector and you will study topics to help you on the job. These topics will include how to behave, how to communicate effectively, and how the law relates to your work. You will also look at how to record incidents, how to perform searches, and about powers of arrest.

On the course, you will be assessed through three multiple choice exams as well as one written exam and a practical test.

When can I start an employability course?

We offer various course dates throughout the year for this door supervisor/security course. We also offer other employment-related courses delivered conveniently in our city centre location on Charles Street. Our courses are usually free if you’re in receipt of benefits, and we can also help you improve your English and maths.
