Who are Leicester College’s acting and dance courses for?

Our acting and dance courses are suitable for both school leavers as well as older people and/or those with a bit of experience in the industry already. The appropriate level for you will be decided based on your prior qualifications and work experience – many learners stay with us for two or more years to develop their skills to the required level for employment. If you are aged 16 to 19 and don’t yet have your English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above, these subjects will be an essential part of your study programme. All courses are designed to give you the skills and knowledge needed to work in the acting and dance industry.

Our acting courses are available at levels 2, 3, 5 and 6. These courses help learners develop the performance and professional skills focusing on singing, dancing and acting. You will be given many opportunities to perform and you’ll also have a chance to do work experience to give you an insight to the world of work.

Our dance courses are available at levels 2, 3 and 5. Learners will be taught at a professional standard to improve your technical ability in a variety of dance styles and help develop your creativity. The Level 5 course is designed to prepare you for work in the dance industry.

Further Information

Our learners regularly give performances in the city and across the country as well as entering competitions on a local and national level. Our professional practice will give you an insight into the realities of a career in the arts and give you the experience and confidence to succeed in whatever career path you choose.

'More than anything, Leicester College has helped me so much to improve my confidence and technique - if I hadn’t done this course I would be feeling nowhere near as prepared as I am now to audition for drama schools and conservatoires!'
