If you are fascinated by tourism and travel, seeing different places and meeting new people, this course is a great insight into the industry. Our lecturers have diverse experience of working within these areas and can offer high levels of expertise and knowledge of the content, as well a preparing you for a range of exciting career options. In addition, this course offers strong links and opportunities with desirable employers such as British Airways, Swissport, Barrhead Travel and Jet2. If you are aged 16 to 18, you will be enrolled on a study programme. This will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above. You will take part in activities that help you to develop your personal skills, such as building your character and confidence. This will help you to live well and move into your chosen career. If you are 16-19 years old these activities will be timetabled as will work experience and placement. You can also choose to take part in other activities. For other age groups, activities will be tailored to your needs.
The course can be studied over one year as a qualification in its own right. Or you may choose to 'top-up' to the Extended Diploma in year 2. In year 1 you will study the following units which will give you a fantastic introduction to the travel and tourism industry; The World of Travel and Tourism Global Destinations Managing the Customer Experience Travel and Tourism Enterprises You will also study the specialist area of 'Visitor Attractions'; and take part in a work experience unit.
Entry to this course requires one reference, 95% attendance at your last place of work or study, and 5 GCSEs including English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above. A level 2 diploma in Travel and Tourism is also desirable, but not essential.
You will be assessed through a combination of assignments, exams, live projects, presentations, and displays.

Apply online via the College website, or if your school uses the Positive Steps @16 (PS16) application system please apply through this and speak to your careers advisor if you are unsure. You will need details of your qualifications, a reference, and a personal statement to complete your application. Once your application has been successfully processed, you will be sent a conditional offer and be invited to a Welcome Event at the College to meet your tutors, learn more about your chosen course of study and tour the facilities. You will then need to confirm your acceptance of the course offered to you.
