Course Overview

This is a supported online learning course aims to provide you with the knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of employment, business, and enterprise. It introduces you to the importance of entrepreneurial skills within business and encourages you to consider your own role in employment, business, and enterprise.
Our all year round course will require you to work in the IT workshop and study the units that make up this award, which could be one whole day or split over a few days. Days and times to suit your personal commitments, and the learning is taken at your own pace and complete the assessment once you feel ready.
This course is particularly beneficial if you are seeking employment and who wish to improve your IT skills in the workplace or for personal activities.

If you successfully complete this course you will gain a nationally recognised qualification which is essential for all working environments to comply with current legislation.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

During this online course, you will learn about the following topics:
1) Employment law and current legislation
2) Employers responsibilities within the law
3) Agreed ways of working and how to manage your workforce
4) Available guidance and support resources
5) Data protection – GDPR
6) Skills needed within a workforce to help a business be successful
7) Basic functions of running a business

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, however, a reasonable level of literacy is expected i.e. you can write and speak to make yourself understood. It would be useful to be able to use a keyboard although support is available.

How you will be assessed

You will complete short mock tests following completion of the learning for each unit and when confident and following a discussion with your tutor, will complete a multiple-choice online exam.

Universal Credit

On completion of this award, your tutor will be able to provide advice and guidance on other online or distance learning courses, or classroom-based programmes. What Happens Next

Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements of the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course.
