This course is for beginners and those that want to learn the basics. Each week you will be guided through a small sewing project for example, creating your own needle case, piped pin cushion and making a zipper purse.

Interested in graphics or improving your skill set with Adobe products? Join us for this short part-time programme to learn the basics of Illustrator. From designing your own website, graphics or logos this course will give you the knowledge to fly solo as a freelance designer or further study into other Adobe design software.

You will explore the potential and limitations of plastic clay through the construction of slab-built ceramics. Using traditional techniques and source materials you will design a range of slab-built, functional pieces and produce one of these. You will learn how to create surface texture and pattern using impressing, stamping and ‘sgraffito’ techniques, as well as printing and surface transfers or ‘decals’. These techniques will be developed using found objects as well as pottery decoration tools and methods.

You will explore digital collage, finding and choosing source imagery and creating your own compositions. Using PhotoShop you will learn how to select objects and use layers. You will also add texture and experiment with colour. We will look at historic uses of collage and contemporary digital artists for inspiration.

This course enhances skills in the understanding and application of the screen printing process. You will be encouraged to explore a range of imagery and materials whilst developing your technical and artistic skills. The course will enable you to improve and develop practical skills, including setting up screen print machinery and equipment.

This course introduces students to two of the three most basic modern techniques used in print artistry today, namely Relief and Intaglio printmaking. Over a seven week period you will be instructed in how to set-up the machinery, work with a range of materials, and develop the pracical skills necessary to develop your skills.

With access to materials, media, and expert teaching our level one Art and Design course will give you the opportunity to learn the basics before progressing with your education. Our well-rounded course will develop your skills in art and design by teaching you the tools to use your creativity to its full potential.

This course is aimed at people wishing to further their education within the area of fashion and textiles. You will develop skills in a wide range of areas including drawing development, computer aided design (CAD), pattern cutting and garment manufacture, and fashion design and illustration. You will learn how to design and construct garments and accessories to industrial standards and you will be taught how to use industrial machinery safely.

The course is predominantly a graphic design course with elements of interactive media covering the following subjects: ideas and concepts; drawing; design method; contextual studies; photography; screen printing; computers in art and design; and web design. The course covers the design process, and you will also be training on a range of the latest industry software including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
