Course Overview

During this 9 week embroidery course you will be creating rich vibrant samplers with abstract effects, landscapes and more. Sessions are run once a week and are in small groups.
There will be opportunities to transfer the skills learnt on to a small individual project of your own such as a picture frame, cushion or bag.

What You'll Learn

Year 1

You will learn to embroider a variety of different cross stitches on samplers, using embroidery hoops and embroidery stitches . Your tutor will show you how to transfer motifs on to fabrics and explore freehand and machine embroidery using a variety of techniques such a metallic threads and soft and sheer fabrics.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, however, a reasonable level of literacy is expected i.e. you can write and speak to make yourself understood. It would be useful to be able to use a keyboard although support is available. If you have any concerns regarding your literacy level or IT skills, please contact us.

You must be aged 19 or over to participate in this course.

How you will be assessed

There are no formal assessments for this course, it is a practical course with all work being completed during the sessions.

Tuition Fees (19+): £85.00

Additional Costs

The cost of the half day program is £85.00.

You will not be required to pay a fee for this course if you are in receipt of one of the following benefits:
Universal Credit
JSA or ESA (Employment and Support Allowance Work Related Action Group)
Low waged.
Evidence of benefits will be required on the application.


If the course is longer than one year the total fees are for the first year only and further fees may apply in future years. All fees are based on a ‘home’ learner status. Please contact us for information on overseas fees.

What Happens Next

Apply online via the College website. You will be contacted to attend an interview if required, or you will be sent a conditional offer according to the entry requirements of the course. You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course.
