This course is for adults aged 19+. Leicester College has a long tradition of teaching outstanding digital photography, printing, design, and online editing and publishing courses. Our professional studio, darkrooms and digital editing suites (along with a little help from lecturers and supervisors) provide outstanding facilities for full- and part-time students.
This course is an adult-only course for 19-year-olds or older who are interested in photography and want to learn how to understand and use their own digital camera. If you are 18 or under and are interested in this course, please contact the digital media department.
White balance, resolution, pixels, aperture, shutter speeds… if you are confused by these terms this is the right course for you.
What You'll Learn
The aim of this workshop is to give you confidence in using a digital camera, downloading your images and digitally outputting your work. You will be able to use your camera both in the studio and on location. It would be advantageous if you have your own camera but there will be the opportunity to borrow equipment from the College subject to availability. You will be given one or two basic briefs/tasks to work towards and be expected to keep a supporting sketchbook/log book.
No formal qualifications required, however you will benefit if you have some previous experience and a keen interest in photography.
How you will be assessed
There is no formal summative assessment, only a series of formative exercises and tasks. A group exhibition can be arranged. Individual targets will be set
Tuition Fees (19+): £75.00
SD card is required and your own digital camera is preferable.
If the course is longer than one year the total fees are for the first year only and further fees may apply in future years. All fees are based on a ‘home’ learner status. Please contact us for information on overseas fees.
