We actively promote the government’s British values of Democracy, Individual Liberty, Rule of Law, Mutual Respect and Tolerance, and promote their place in our own expectations, vision, and values.

Respect and Tolerance 

While at Leicester College you will learn about different faiths and beliefs, through the multi-faith chaplaincy and LEET events:

  • the LEAP
  • getting to know staff and students across your curriculum and College as a whole
  • volunteering and work experience

Our learners will develop an understanding and experience of mutual respect through:

  • team work in the curriculum and across College
  • the LEAP programme
  • College policies such as EDI, safeguarding and bullying and harassment
  • LEET activities and events
  • The college multi-faith chaplaincy team.

Individual Liberty

Our learners will develop an understanding and experience of individual liberty through:

  • the curriculum and LEAP
  • safeguarding, and all other College policy and procedures
  • our Equality and Diversity (EDI) policy and the EDI annual report
  • celebrating student success
  • learner representatives
  • access to College support, mentoring and information, advice and guidance.

 

Democracy

Our learners will develop an understanding and experience of democracy through:

  • learner voice
  • learner representatives
  • our Student Union
  • student governors
  • the annual equality and diversity conference
  • activities and events with the Learner Enrichment Engagement Team (LEET)
  • the Learner Employability Achievement Programme (LEAP) as part of your course.

 

Rule of Law

Our learners will develop an understanding and experience of the rule of law through:

  • induction
  • the learning agreement
  • College and workplace regulations
  • College and workplace policies and procedures
  • the Student Union and learner representatives.
