Leicester City’s Community Trust are delighted to announce details of a new formalised partnership with Leicester College to provide further educational support to post-16 students.

The news comes as details of a new BTEC Level 3 in Sport course was announced – a specialist work-related qualification that encompasses sporting performance and excellence across a range of topics.

Based at King Power Stadium, the course will see students tackle core elements such as anatomy, physiology, psychology, coaching and tactical development, as well as having the opportunity to represent LCFC in the National Football League Trust ‘Futsal’ League.

As featured on Soccer AM, the league will see students presented with the opportunity to play in national Futsal arenas on a weekly basis.college-480-lc7404-006280-2487022

This will take place alongside studies for their Extended Diploma, which thanks to the partnership with Leicester College, will have the added assurances of a quality programme.

Community Trust Director Mick King said:“The partnership with Leicester College demonstrates LCFC’s commitment to supporting education across the community. The LCFC Trust actively promotes pathways from education to achieve relevant qualifications to enable young people to pursue employment.”

The partnership provides a boost to an already successful programme that saw all of the Community Trust’s BTEC Education and Futsal Year 12 students attain their target grades in 2014, as well as a successful season on the Futsal front – with a third placed finish in their league.

Now with the added value for students of a link with Leicester College, there will be even more opportunities for youngsters as part of an exciting and unique two-year educational course.

Claire Willis of Leicester College added:“The BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport Futsal Academy programme will run as a collaborative partnership between LCFC Community Trust and Leicester College. In addition to this an 11-a -side Academy model will be offered to the college learners. These courses will enhance the current provision offered by the college and widen the opportunities available for young people within our prevalent sporting community, as well as giving the opportunity to be associated with a Premier League Football Club and to enhance their learning experience.”

The extended diploma is available to students of all abilities aged between 16 and 18, with six hours of weekly coaching given alongside opportunities to attain FA Coaching Awards in the second of the two-year programme.
